More peace and quiet in the workplace at Brussels Federation of Christian Trade Unions

A pleasant working environment requires more than a functional layout. Acoustics also play an important role. This is particularly true for reception areas and workspaces where employees collaborate, welcome visitors and regularly hold conversations. Brussels Verbond Der Christene Vakverenigingen noticed that sound lingered in the space for longer. As a result, acoustic comfort decreased and the soundscape became more restless. EASY Noise Control delivered a solution that improved both the acoustics and the appearance of the spaces. In addition to high-quality ceiling absorption, the interior gained extra character through several acoustic photo panels.

The challenge: reverberation in reception and work areas

The reception areas and workspaces featured multiple hard surfaces. The ceiling consisted of concrete and plaster, while the walls were finished with Gyproc. These materials reflect sound, causing sound waves to continue travelling through the room. You will often notice this in:

    • A space that sounds busier than necessary
    • Conversations that seem to overlap
    • Less peace and quiet in the workplace
    • Reduced speech intelligibility
    • More distractions during focused work

In an environment where employees collaborate and visitors are welcomed, pleasant acoustics immediately contribute to a positive user experience.

A combination of ceiling absorption and acoustic photo panels

After analysing the spaces, our specialists recommended a combination of acoustic ceiling panels and acoustic photo panels. With this approach, we absorb sound in different areas of the room. This reduces reverberation more effectively than when only one surface is addressed. For this project, we supplied:

    EASYceiling Plus ceiling panels

    EASYphoto photo panels

In total, we installed 43 acoustic elements. This created a large sound-absorbing surface that suits the size and function of the various rooms.

Improve Office Acoustics with EASYceiling Plus

When improving office acoustics, the ceiling is often an important starting point. After all, the ceiling covers a large surface area and therefore plays a major role in the propagation of sound.

We fixed the EASYceiling Plus panels directly to the existing ceiling. The panels absorb sound before it is reflected back into the room. This reduces reverberation and creates a calmer acoustic environment. The benefits of this solution:

    • Less reverberation in the room
    • Improved speech intelligibility
    • Greater acoustic comfort
    • Sleek appearance
    • Suitable for concrete and plasterboard ceilings

Thanks to the generous number of ceiling panels, effective ceiling absorption is achieved, well suited to the function of the rooms.

Acoustic photo panels that combine ambience and performance

In addition to the ceiling panels, Brussels Verbond Der Christene Vakverenigingen chose several EASYphoto photo panels.

These acoustic photo panels combine sound absorption with visual appeal. As a result, they not only contribute to better office acoustics, but also enhance the appearance of reception areas and workspaces.

The large 150 x 300 cm panels immediately draw attention and give the space its own character. The square 120 x 120 cm panels ensure a balanced distribution of sound-absorbing surface within the interior. This creates a solution that is both functional and presentable.

Why concrete, plaster and Gyproc require extra attention

Materials such as concrete, plaster and Gyproc naturally have limited sound-absorbing properties. As a result, sound easily bounces back into the room. This increases reverberation and makes rooms feel restless more quickly.

By adding sound-absorbing materials to the ceiling and walls, you can absorb a large proportion of these reflections. This improves the acoustic balance and reduces the amount of distracting reverberation. For office environments with a lot of conversation, this approach is an effective way to enhance acoustic comfort.

Result: less reverberation and a calmer workplace

Thanks to the combination of EASYceiling Plus and EASYphoto, Brussels Verbond Der Christene Vakverenigingen enjoys a more pleasant acoustic climate in both the reception areas and the workspaces. The solution provides:

    • Less reverberation
    • A calmer atmosphere
    • Improved speech intelligibility
    • Greater comfort for employees and visitors
    • A professional and well-presented appearance

Employees experience fewer distractions while working, and conversations remain easier to hear. Visitors also benefit from a quieter and more pleasant reception area. The spaces feel more comfortable and support both focused work and personal interaction.
