    Acoustic Foam

    Looking for a high quality acoustic foam? EASY Noise Control offers a wide range of acoustic foams. These include polyurethane, bubble and melamine foams. These absorbent foams can be used in enclosures, machines, boats, cars and studios,

    These foams are distinguished by their high absorption value and fire-resistant properties. Moreover, with Fireseal we have the only polyurethane foam that is fireproof.

    More about acoustic foam

    Acoustic foam is foam that is used to absorb sound. This improves the acoustics in a certain room where the foam is applied. It is a relatively inexpensive solution to improve the acoustics in the room.

    If you want to improve the acoustics in an enclosure, in machines, in cars, in boats and/or in studios in a simple way, acoustic foam can offer a solution. EASY Noise Control offers various types of foam:

    • EASYfoam polyurethane foam
    • Fireseal fire-resistant polyurethane foam
    • EASYbond rebonded foam
    • Pyracoustic melamine foam

    All these foams have their own characteristics, but all are distinguished by their high absorption value. An absorption value indicates to what extent the product absorbs sound. If the absorption value is too low, it causes an echo and if it is too high, the sound will be cut off too quickly. It is therefore important that the absorption values are correct. Factors that determine the absorption value:

    • the openness of the surface of the material;
    • the thickness of the material;
    • the material used for the plate.

    Characteristics EASYfoam:

    EASYfoam has the option of a self-adhesive backing, which makes it easy to mount the foam. It is also possible to have acoustic foam with a top layer that is resistant to moisture and oil. EASYfoam AC2 and EASYfoam PU are very suitable for this purpose.

    Characteristics EASYbond:

    EASYbond, also called rebonded foam, is made with recycled polyurethane foams. EASYbond can be used well as a vibration plate for under a washing machine, a drum kit or another source of vibration. It is also good to use under a parquet or laminate floor. The colour of the EASYbond can differ per batch, because the product is made of recycled material. Therefore, each sheet has its own unique colour.

    Our EASYbond is available in different sizes and thicknesses. For example, the 1 cm thick version is extremely suitable for use under parquet and laminate floors due to its optimal density. This variant is available in 3 different dimensions, namely:

    • 100 x 100 cm;
    • 100 x 50 cm;
    • 100 x 4 cm.

    The 3 cm thickness is suitable for making a floating floor in, for example, a sound studio. This variant can also be used well underneath a vibration source (for example a washing machine or drum kit). The dimensions of the 3 cm thick EASYbond plate are 100 x 50 cm.

    Characteristics Pyracoustic:

    Pyracoustic melamine foam is an acoustic solution that is budget-friendly. The self-adhesive backing makes it easy to install the product at the desired location. The dimensions of the plates are 120 x 60 cm. We have two variants of the plates, one with flat edges and one with bevelled edges. The plate with bevelled edges is ideal when you want to install several plates against each other. There is a choice of a plate of 30 or 50 mm.

    Customised solution? Customisation is also possible with our Pyracoustic plates, because these are available in any desired size and thickness. The plates can also be cut into a shape of your choice.

    Which acoustic foam is suitable for my needs?

    For each type of acoustic foam, we describe the applications below. Acoustic foams can be used in:

    • sound studios;
    • technical areas;
    • air handling units;
    • cabin construction;
    • air ducts;
    • server rooms.

    Rebonded foam is very suitable for making a floating floor in a sound studio. It can also be used as a vibration source under a washing machine or drum kit.

    Melamine foam can be used in various rooms, but it is very sensitive to conditions. In some circumstances, melamine foam can stretch or shrink. Therefore, we recommend that you first let this foam acclimatise to the indoor climate in the room where it is to be used for three days.

    So there are many different types of acoustic foam available. This can make it difficult to determine which one is right for you. Please contact us for advice without obligation. We are happy to take a look with you! We have also a showroom in the Meern. In this showroom, we have all types of acoustic foam in different versions and thicknesses. It is possible to make an appointment to receive advice on this and to view everything for yourself.

    Please note! It is not possible to guarantee the suitability and certain properties of our products in specific applications. Please contact us or refer to our additional terms and conditions.

    How can the acoustic foam be mounted?

    Because acoustic foam is a soft material, it is easy to cut to size with a sharp (Stanley) knife. The foam can also be ordered with a self-adhesive back, making it easy to attach to the walls, ceiling, or any other desired place. This adhesive layer is very strong, after applying the foam it is not possible to reposition the plate.

    In order to properly attach the acoustic foam, it is important that the surface is clean, free of dust, dry and free of grease. If the surface is not flat, it must first be pre-treated with contact adhesive. This guarantees good adhesion.

    Does having acoustic foam underneath the table help?

    The answer to this is barely or not at all. Putting acoustic foam under the table only helps a little when the acoustics are very poor. When combatting reflections and reverberation, it is important that the sound waves are absorbed as quickly as possible by acoustic material. If the acoustic foam is placed under the table, the sound waves have to bounce off it very often before they reach the table. This is why it is more effective to place acoustic materials on the ceiling or on the walls.

    Is acoustic foam fireproof?

    Not all types of acoustic foam can be used in public areas, because they do not always meet fire safety requirements. However, we have the EASYfoam FireSeal in our range, which is fireproof according to EN13501 class B-s1, d0. This means that this product has excellent fire properties and is therefore suitable for public spaces.
