Acoustic solution for MiSa advies: more comfort, focus and better acoustics

A pleasant working environment for a leading environmental consultancy. MiSa Advies supports organisations with expert advice in the fields of environment and spatial planning. Every day, employees work on complex projects where concentration, collaboration and a comfortable working atmosphere are essential. However, the acoustics in part of the office created more noise disturbance than desired.

    Birgit Brinks

MiSa Advies approached EASY Noise Control with a clear question: how do you create a calm and professional working environment without compromising the appearance of the interior? With a carefully considered acoustic plan, we delivered an effective solution that integrates seamlessly with the meeting room.

The Challenge: Hard Surfaces and Excessive Reverberation

In modern office environments, hard materials often cause sound reflections. This was also the case at MiSa Advies, resulting in increased reverberation throughout the space. Conversations lingered longer and sound travelled further than intended.

For an organisation where employees regularly collaborate, write reports and provide consultancy services, poor acoustics have a direct impact on workplace comfort and productivity.

The solution needed to meet three important requirements:

    • A noticeable improvement in room acoustics
    • A professional appearance that complements the interior
    • A solution suitable for different ceiling constructions.

    The Acoustic Solution

After analysing the space, we recommended a combination of EASYceiling Plus and EASYceiling Direct ceiling panels.

EASYceiling Plus Panels Between the Wooden Beams

In the area with the wooden ceiling, we installed:

The ceiling features exposed wooden beams. We carefully integrated the panels between these beams to achieve a clean and refined result while preserving the character and architectural appeal of the wooden ceiling.

By placing the panels between the beams, we created a calm visual appearance and a large sound-absorbing surface that significantly reduces unwanted sound reflections.

EASYceiling Direct Panels for the Suspended Ceiling Area

In the section with the suspended plasterboard ceiling, we installed:

We mounted these panels directly onto the plasterboard ceiling. Thanks to their slim design, the panels blend beautifully into the existing interior while delivering excellent sound absorption.

Why This Combination Works So Well

Every room presents its own acoustic challenges. By combining two different ceiling solutions, we made optimal use of the available ceiling surfaces.

The EASYceiling Plus panels absorb sound effectively within the wooden beam section without affecting the architectural character of the space. At the same time, the EASYceiling Direct panels address the acoustic challenges in the suspended ceiling area.

    This combination provides:

    • Reduced reverberation
    • A calmer atmosphere during conversations
    • Improved speech intelligibility
    • Better focus during concentrated work
    • A more comfortable environment for employees and visitors

A Balance Between Aesthetics and Acoustics

In B2B projects, appearance is often just as important as performance. That is why MiSa Advies selected the White Frost finish. This light colour complements the existing interior perfectly and gives the ceilings a clean, modern and professional look.

The white aluminium frames of the EASYceiling Plus panels further enhance the overall appearance. As a result, the acoustic solution feels like a natural part of the interior rather than an obvious addition.

The Result: A Quieter Office for Professional Consultancy Work

By installing 18 EASYceiling Plus panels and 12 EASYceiling Direct panels, we achieved a significant improvement in the room acoustics at MiSa Advies.

The office environment now feels calmer, conversations sound clearer and employees experience better focus throughout the working day. At the same time, the solution integrates perfectly with both the wooden ceiling and the suspended plasterboard ceiling.

This project demonstrates how a smart acoustic solution not only reduces noise but also contributes to a professional, comfortable and productive working environment.

    FAQ

Why is good acoustics important in an open-plan office or meeting room?

A good acoustics directly contribute to a pleasant and productive working environment. In an open-plan office, effective sound absorption prevents conversations, phone calls, and ambient noises from amplifying each other. As a result, employees experience more calm, fewer distractions, and greater focus during their work. In meeting rooms, good acoustics improve intelligibility, enabling participants to hear each other clearly and making conversations more efficient. An agreeable sound environment also helps to reduce stress and fatigue. By limiting echo and disruptive noises, a professional working atmosphere is created where communication, concentration, and collaboration can thrive. This makes good acoustics an important investment for any office.

What is the best acoustic solution for my office?

There is no one-size-fits-all acoustic solution for every office. The best approach depends on the type of space, the layout, the specific noise issue and the desired look and feel of the environment. In an open-plan office, the main goal often involves reducing speech noise and distractions between colleagues. In a meeting room, clear speech intelligibility usually takes priority so that everyone can communicate effectively.

Acoustic ceiling panels, wall panels, desk screens and acoustic partitions each serve a different purpose. For this reason, an effective solution always starts with an assessment of the space and its current acoustic performance. Based on these findings, acoustic specialists can recommend the most suitable combination of products. This tailored approach helps ensure that the investment delivers real improvements in comfort, concentration and productivity while creating a more pleasant workplace for everyone.

What is the main cause of poor acoustics in the office?

The primary cause of poor acoustics in the office is the combination of many sound sources and hard, sound-reflecting surfaces. In an open-plan office, conversations, phone calls, and meetings are constantly taking place. When materials such as glass, concrete, steel, and hard floors are present, sound easily reflects back into the space. This results in echo and sound spreading over greater distances.

This leads to more distractions, lower speech intelligibility, and less concentration in the workplace. Especially in open office areas, sounds amplify each other, causing the noise level to rise quickly. By implementing sound-absorbing solutions such as acoustic wall panels, ceiling panels, and partition walls, reflections are reduced and more tranquillity, focus, and working comfort are created for employees.

How much does it cost to improve the acoustics in the office?

The costs of improving the acoustics in the office vary depending on the situation. Factors such as the size of the room, the current acoustics, and the chosen solutions influence the investment. For example, consider acoustic wall panels, ceiling panels, baffles, or partition walls. Therefore, an effective approach often begins with an acoustic analysis or on-site measurement. This identifies the bottlenecks and shows which measures deliver the most results. Based on this, you receive targeted advice with a suitable price indication. In this way, you can purposefully invest in solutions that ensure more peace, better intelligibility, higher productivity, and increased work comfort in the office.

How do I know if the acoustics in my office are poor?

Bad acoustics are often recognised by clear signs. Conversations sound noisy, colleagues understand each other less well, and sound persists in the space for a long time. Staff are more easily distracted by phone calls, meetings, or ambient noises, which affects concentration and productivity. Fatigue and a restless feeling during the workday can also indicate an acoustic problem. This is particularly common in open-plan offices and meeting rooms. Do you want to be sure about the acoustic situation? An acoustic measurement can provide an answer. It offers insight into the causes of noise disturbance and shows which measures are most effective for greater calm, focus, and work comfort.
