    What is sound insulation?

In practice, the term "sound insulation" is often used as a collective term for everything that has to do with insulating and/or absorbing sound. A good example is that when you search the web for “sound insulation”, you will find various examples of convoluted foam. However, this is incorrect. Sound insulation, or acoustic insulation, refers to shielding a room from outside noise. With convoluted foam, however, you improve the acoustics in a room, but this has little or no effect on the extent to which sound can be heard in an adjacent room. Fortunately, we offer various materials that do work well for sound insulation.

With the addition of sound insulation material, there are two types of noise that can be addressed. Firstly, there is airborne noise; this means sound from, for example, the television or voices. Secondly, there is impact noise: this means sound from vibrations and thumps of the structure, such as footsteps, a slamming door, or a vibrating washing machine.

Both airborne and impact noise can be reduced by a block wall. We offer sound-insulating boards called EASYmass, which can be used to make a good block wall. EASYbond's vibration insulation can be used as a subfloor to dampen vibrations and impact noise.

What other sound insulation boards does EASY Noise Control have?

Examples of other sound-insulating materials are sound barrier mats or sandwich panels. Sound barrier mats are sound insulation boards made of flexible sound-insulating plastic. Because they have a high mass, these boards provide good sound insulation. At EASY Noise Control, these boards are known as EASYmass.

Sandwich panels have good sound-insulating and absorbing properties due to the perforated inner side. At EASY Noise Control, the sandwich panels are known under the name EASYpanel. EASYpanel is particularly suitable for sound insulation in industrial environments and, for example, around noise sources on top of the roof.

Which absorption plates does EASY Noise Control have?

Absorption plates are available in different materials such as wool, foam, or other soft materials. Absorption plates dampen sound waves and consist of light and open-cell material. At EASY Noise Control, we sell acoustic foam under the names EASYfoam, EASYbond, and Pyracoustic. The materials used for these foams are melamine foam or polyurethane foam. All these foams are distinguished by their high absorption values and fire-resistant properties.

Melamine foam: pyracoustic products are made of melamine foam. This foam is extremely light in weight and excellent for improving room acoustics. Available with straight or bevelled edges in the size of 120 x 60 cm and a choice of thicknesses of 30 mm or 50 mm. The foam is easy to process due to the option to order the product with self-adhesive backing.

Polyurethane foam: EASYfoam and EASYbond products are made of polyurethane foam. Due to the open cell structure, these foams have very good sound-absorbing properties. We offer this foam with various top layers, including an oil and moisture-resistant top layer. But we also have the FireSeal plate: a fire-resistant acoustic foam.

Another product that is often used as an absorption plate is polyester wool. An advantage of polyester wool is that it is a sustainable product. This material is suitable for use as a sound-absorbing filling, for filling a cavity or as absorption in a room. A polyester wool that can be used as an aesthetic solution is pet felt. EASY Noise Control's sister company, called EASYfelt, offers decorative solutions made of PET felt.
